3 Things You Never Want to Hear While Driving and How to Avoid the Situation

Pumping gas into a car at a gas station | Gunther Kia
Ask anyone who has been driving for a few years and he or she could tell you plenty of stories of road trips gone wrong. Whether it's a big vacation or a simple run to the grocery store, being stuck in a car sometimes brings out the worst in us. Whether you're the driver or the passenger, here are three things you never want to hear when you're in the car. We're About to Run Out of Gas You've lost track of the miles. When you look down at the gas gauge, you suddenly realize it's below empty, and you're about to run out of gas. The first thing you need to do is not panic. If the low fuel light just came on, you still have a few miles before you'll completely run out of gas. Next, you need to take stock of your situation. If you remember passing a gas station a few miles ago, you're better off turning around and heading back instead of pushing forward. You also want to slow down. Driving over 50 mph rapidly decreases your fuel economy so move over to the right lane and only use the gas pedal to maintain a steady speed. If your car does run out of gas before you make it to a gas station, immediately coast over to the shoulder, put on your hazards lights, and call for help. My Stomach Doesn't Feel Good If it's an adult saying this, he can probably gauge whether or not you need to pull over to the side of the road. However, if it's your kid saying this, you might only have a few seconds to react before there's a disaster zone in the backseat. Motion sickness occurs when the inner ear senses motion, but the eyes and joints don't. If your child is prone to motion sickness, try to get her to look at things outside of the car instead of books or games inside the car. Also, small, bland snacks right before the trip and proper air ventilation can help prevent motion sickness. Oops, I Spilled Something You're cruising down the road listening to your favorite song, and suddenly you hear your child gasp in the backseat. With hesitation, you hear “Do you have a napkin?” This all too familiar story has happened to all of us. Will you ever be able to save your interior? Luckily, you don't have to start shopping for a new car right that second. If you have paper towels in the car, use them to immediately wipe up any liquid messes. Next, turn to your trusty baby wipes to finish cleaning the mess. Since baby wipes are gentle enough for human skin, they're also fine on leather and fabric. Once you get home, make sure to go over the spots with a cleaner to remove any lingering odors or stains. When you're driving, you never want to hear these three things. However, if you do, at least you now know how to handle them.

The Spacious 2020 Kia Telluride Crossover SUV

Most crossovers are not known for their size. Instead, they are known for being smaller versions of larger SUVs. However, the 2020 Kia Telluride stands on its own as a large, spacious, and enjoyable crossover with many of the features of an SUV. If you are looking for a vehicle that can perform like an SUV but is made for families and daily driving, check out the 2020 Kia Telluride. Spacious Design The 2020 Kia Telluride is the largest crossover that Kia offers, which gives it a distinct advantage over other models. It has the extra size needed to be more spacious on the inside. Kia designed it with this in mind so that drivers and passengers won't feel like they are crammed into a small car. Instead, it has plenty of open space for your passengers with a third row. This also translates into a lot of cargo space that you can use when the seats are folded. All around, the 2020 Kia Telluride is a very versatile vehicle because of its extra space. Towing Power The 2020 Kia Telluride comes standard with a 3.8L V-6 engine. Combined with an eight-speed transmission and Active On-Demand AWD, it can tow up to 5,000 lbs. That is more than most crossovers and enough for vehicle trailers, campers, and medium boat trailers. You can take advantage of this to get more power out of your Telluride for fund driving, or for taking your favorite recreational vehicles with you on vacation. Either way, the Telluride has what it takes to get there. more Standard Driver-Assist Systems The 2020 Kia Telluride comes equipped with many of Kia's top safety features. These include the Active Cruise Control. It works like normal cruise control, except an onboard monitoring system watches for other vehicles and adjusts accordingly. If there is a vehicle ahead of you, the Telluride slows down to match its speed. Once the vehicle is gone, the Telluride returns to the speed that you set. It can even come to a stop, making it useful even in stop and go traffic. While it is not a full replacement for a driver, it does make long-trips much easier. Comfortable Seating The 2020 Kia Telluride is designed for long trips and the seating stays comfortable throughout. It uses well seats to cushion and cradle your body so that even rough roads are more pleasant. The cabin is designed to be very quiet as well, which makes it easy to talk to people while you drive. A 10-speaker sound system also sounds great for music since the cabin controls sound so well. The AC system effectively heats and cools all three rows, making it possible for everyone to be comfortable the entire time. There is much more to the 2020 Kia Telluride that you should explore in person. You'll get a much better sense of how great it can be. Visit your local Kia dealer today to see what the Telluride is like in person and what it can do for you on the road.
