Which Kia Sorento Trim Do You Need?

Kia Sorento in the desert on a cloudy day | Gunther Kia
The Kia Sorento is a vehicle designed to fit your unique lifestyle. As a five-seat mid-size crossover, it's larger than many other vehicles in that category but smaller than seven-seat SUVs, making it a nice balance of space and maneuverability. With five different trim levels, the Sorento also offers a lot of variety in terms of features and pricing. If you're having trouble deciding between them, keep reading to learn more.

Kia Sorento L

This trim has a very reasonable MSRP of $25,990 and does not offer any optional packages, which can be good if you're looking to keep things simple. The four-cylinder engine, six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive will work just fine for your day-to-day driving needs. The standard features include all of the basics and a few nice extras, such as Android Auto or Apple CarPlay compatibility, a rearview camera, and a 7-inch UVO infotainment screen. If you're looking for simplicity and don't need all-wheel drive or extra power, this is a good choice.

Kia Sorento LX

Unlike the L, the LX has a few more options that you'll be able to choose from, including the ability to add all-wheel drive. You can also include a convenience package, which offers a lot of favorites such as heated seats, satellite radio, and dual-zone climate control. Also available is what Kia calls the LX V-6 option, which bumps up the engine power and throws in dual-zone climate control and a power-adjustable driver's seat. The LX V-6 trim has an MSRP of $31,290 and offers its own convenience package for an additional cost. If you're planning on doing any kind of towing or just like a little extra power beneath your foot, you'll probably want to consider this trim.

Kia Sorento EX

From the EX upward, the V-6 engine is standard, but the all-wheel drive will still cost extra. This trim also starts to pack on the luxury features, many of which are included. Leather upholstery, heated front seats, and satellite radio will improve your driving experience while safety features, such as forward collision warning, emergency braking, and lane-departure warning, will help keep you safe. You can even upgrade this trim further with the EX Touring package. This will get you a nicer sound system, a larger UVO screen, a heated steering wheel, a sunroof, and more.

Kia Sorento SX

The SX comes standard with most of the features that were included in the EX Touring package. It also has its own Touring package that adds ventilated front seats, a surround-view camera, xenon headlights, and more.

Kia Sorento SX Limited

Last but not least is the Kia Sorento SX Limited. This contains all of the features of the SX as well as 19-inch chrome-clad wheels, upgraded upholstery, heated second-row seats, and wood trim. There are no upgrade packages. What more could you want in here? As you can see, the Kia Sorento offers an abundance of trims for any budget or needs. If you need more assistance making your decision, your friendly neighborhood Kia dealer is always here to help.   Image provided by Kia

Get a Look at the Upcoming Kia Telluride

Slated to go on sale in early 2019, the 2020 Kia Telluride will be the biggest SUV yet from the South Korean automaker. While we don't know all the details of the new vehicle, it's based on the Telluride concept car from 2016, which gives us an idea of some of the exterior style and interior features we can expect when the vehicle hits the market. An Impressively Stylish SUV The concept car had an overall length of 196.9 inches and an overall width of 79.1 inches. While Kia hasn't released dimensions for the 2020 Telluride, it has said the vehicle will be several inches longer and wider than the Kia Sorento. It will also have some impressive exterior style. You'll make a statement coming and going thanks to the recessed quad-LED headlights, horizontal LED turn signal lights, and thin, vertical taillights. It also features a boxy and almost truck-like silhouette that's sure to turn heads when it's on the road. more Space for Everyone Inside the Kia Telluride, you'll find plenty of space for everyone. While the manufacturer says the three-row SUV can seat up to eight people, the concept showcased a spacious seven-passenger version that had four leather captain's chairs and a third-row bench. If the manufacturer keeps both versions, it looks like you'll have a choice of seating options when the SUV goes on sale. Incredible Luxury Conveniences Along with an open cabin with great seating space, the 2020 Kia Telluride will have some amazing luxury conveniences inside. The concept car had foldaway footrests on the middle row seats that beckoned you to kick back and relax. The large sunroof would give everyone in the vehicle a great view of the outside. While we don't know exactly which features will carry over from the concept car, Kia has confirmed the Telluride will have natural wood trims and leather details on the door panels, dashboard, and grab handles for a softer touch inside. Amazing Technology When the Kia Telluride hits the market, it will offer some incredible technological advancements. In the concept car, the front four seats had Smart Sensors that recorded vital health information. Then, screens on the interior door panels displayed these findings to help you keep track of your heart rate, stress levels, and more. While these wellness features likely won't be on the production vehicle, odds are good you can expect the wireless cellphone charging pad and seven-speaker Harman Kardon audio system that was showcased in the concept car. Excellent Power and Performance While Kia hasn't released much information about the engine that will be in the Telluride, it has said the vehicle will have a powerful V-6 engine. Only time will tell whether it's the same 3.3-liter engine found in the Sorento or the twin-turbocharged version currently available in the Stinger. Additionally, although not confirmed, it seems likely the SUV will have an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive capabilities. If you're thinking about upgrading to a new SUV, you now have plenty of reasons to wait until the 2020 Kia Telluride comes to the market.
