If it’s raining or the weather just isn’t excellent for outdoor activities, consider checking out some of the great attractions around the city that don’t rely on good weather.

Stranahan House Museum

If you’re interested in history, make sure to take the time to visit the Stranahan House Museum at 335 Southeast 6th Ave. This is the oldest house in Ft. Lauderdale and shows how life was in the early 1900s. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is just $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, and $7 for students. Stranahan House Museum offers educational programs and hosts events throughout the year as well. There are no self-guided tours, but professionally guided tours are available daily.

Museum of Discovery and Science

When you want to get out with the kids, take a trip to the Museum of Discovery and Science. From animal exhibits to hands-on activities, you can easily spend hours exploring here. Kids interested in weather can learn all about the weather patterns at the Storm Center, and those who like flight should check out the aviation station. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets to the museum exhibits are $15 for adults, $14 for seniors, and $13 for children 2-12 or for members of the military.

NSU Art Museum

Get a little culture in your life when you visit the NSU Art Museum. This museum features modern art and includes over 6,000 pieces. In addition to the permanent collection, there are exhibits that rotate out regularly, allowing you to get a new experience every time you visit. Hours vary throughout the week, so make sure you check before you go. Explore the museum for $12 for adults, $8 for military members or seniors, $5 for students, and free for children younger than 12.

In addition to the exhibits, the NSU Art Museum hosts several events and galas throughout the year. Some of these are recurring events, such as the Free First Thursday Starry Nights, allow you free entrance to the museum on the first Thursday of the month.

Laser Quest

If you’re in the mood for an adventure, check out Laser Quest. Here you can play laser tag with your friends, family, or even against strangers. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and come with enough energy to take out your enemies. You can even book events such as birthday parties, corporate groups, and more. Laser Quest offers pizza and drinks, so you can even make a whole day out of your laser tag adventure.

When you’re looking for something fun to do in Ft. Lauderdale, you don’t have to look hard. There are great attractions, activities, and events going on all over the city. While it’s great to get outside and explore the outdoors, rainy days offer an ideal opportunity to see what else the community has to offer.
