What Is UVO?
UVO, short for “your voice”, is a voice-operated media control system that connects a number of the car’s different systems into one easy-to-use centralized controller. It’s also app-based, meaning you can interact with it by installing an app on your iPhone or Android. This greatly increases the usability and flexibility and allows new features to be continuously added.
The Three UVO Suites
Kia has packaged various UVO features into three different suites, known as eServices, eco, and luxe. Each of these comes with the standard essentials and extra features specifically tailored to their profile. Read on to learn about some of our favorite standard and upgraded features.
UVO Essentials: Parking Reminders
If you’ve ever forgotten where you parked your car, you’ll be happy to know that UVO has you covered. You can save your parking location right in the app on your phone, so you always can find your way back to your Kia. What’s more, you can include parking and meter reminders as well. Say goodbye to unnecessary parking tickets!
UVO Essentials: Curfew Limit, Speed, and Geofence Alerts
If you’re a parent, you’ll love this group of features. The curfew limit lets you set a curfew time, and if UVO detects the vehicle being driven after this time, it can send an alert to your phone. The same goes for the speed alert, which will tell you and the driver if the vehicle is exceeding the max speed you’ve set. Last but not least, the Geofence limits the area in which the vehicle can be driven and sends an alert if the vehicle leaves this area.
UVO Agent: Remote Locks, Climate Control, and More
One of the greatest things about UVO is that you don’t even have to leave your house to use it, and with the UVO Agent and Google Home, you can do even more from the comfort of your living room. Google Assistant will be able to heat or cool your Kia to the desired temperature, lock the doors, or start and stop electric charging on plug-in vehicles. Currently, this feature is only available on some models, but we hope Kia rolls it out to even more in the future. Some of the functions of the UVO Agent, such as remote charging and climate control, are also available with the UVO eco package.
UVO Luxe: Prestige Club
In this case, we saved the best for last. On top of all the other amazing benefits, UVO luxe owners also have access to Kia’s exclusive call center. The call center representatives can offer help and information that will definitely upgrade your driving experience.
