Beer on tap in a dive bar in Fort Lauderdale, FL | Gunther KiaBroward County is the second most populated county in Florida, and it even ranks among the most populous in the nation. There are many nightlife attractions in the area, but if you want a one-of-a-kind experience, consider going for a dive — but not in the Atlantic. The area hosts many unique dive bars, and a visit to one of these attractions will ensure that you have a fun experience with the locals while taking advantage of fun events and cheap drinks. Here are four of the best dive bars in Broward County/Ft. Lauderdale.

The Dive Bar

This watering hole is partly known for its iconic pirate mascot, but locals know that it’s really famous for its cheap wells and the lunch and beer specials. The Dive Bar is dark and aptly decorated, living up to its name. Stop by for karaoke or a generous happy hour, which runs daily from noon to 7 p.m.

The Dive Bar offers $5 well drinks, $2 drafts, and a full kitchen. The $5.99 lunch and beer special is highly recommended. You can even catch some live music here. The Dive Bar is at 3233 N. Ocean Blvd. and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. during the week and from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Laser Wolf

Laser Wolf is another spot to catch some life music, but you’ll find much more to keep you entertained at this dive bar. The establishment regularly hosts parties in its outdoor courtyard, such as an annual pumpkin carving celebration and movie marathons. Count on a wide selection of draft beer to quench your thirst.

Laser Wolf is located at 901 Progresso Drive. It’s open daily from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., except on Sunday, when it’s open from 2 to 8 p.m.

The Zoo Bar at Chopper Zoo

The Zoo Bar is one of the most unique bars in Fort Lauderdale. Chopper Zoo is a bike/tattoo shop, and the Zoo Bar (located inside Chopper Zoo) offers cheap beer, a pool table, and some arcade games. Since it’s inside the bike shop and tattoo parlor, this dive bar has an incredible atmosphere. Enjoy the impressive collection of hot rods, motorcycles, and art while you drink at the Zoo Bar. You can find this spot at 2608 S. Federal Hwy.

Josie’s Too

Josie’s Too is in Avon Park, which is a more secluded part of Fort Lauderdale. This is a cash-only bar that only serves beer and wine. The small space and personal service make it a local favorite, and you may even get to meet Josie if she stops by! You can smoke here, and though there’s no food for sale, drinks are certainly cheap.

This bar has an impressive claim to fame that it’s very proud of: Tom Brady visited Josie’s Too when he was in town for a 2005 GQ photo shoot. The bar is located at 2660 Griffin Road. It’s open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.

The next time you’re thirsty in Broward County, check out one of these dive bars. This is a great way to meet new friends and unwind while keeping your tab low.
