If you’re tired of the same old movie date, check out these fun places in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where you can enjoy a unique evening out with your sweetheart.

Flamingo Gardens

Take a stroll hand-in-hand through Flamingo Gardens and enjoy a quintessentially Florida experience. This location contains some of the last natural jungle growth in the southern part of the state. It’s also one of the oldest botanical gardens, boasting 1.5 acres of free-flight aviary land, a crocodile lagoon, habitats of river otters and bobcats, wading birds, and a citrus grove. You can also walk through the museum to learn more about the history of the area or grab a bite at any of the several cafes located on the grounds.

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park

If you’re up for an adventurous date, grab your hiking shoes and hit up Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. This 180-acre park sits on the barrier between the Inland Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, so it offers some incredible views. When it’s warm outside, you can lounge on the beaches and swim in the ocean, but there are things to do even when the temperature is a bit cooler.

Walk along the paths and watch boats as they pass by, request a ranger-led tour of the beach hammock nature trail, or rent a canoe and explore the water. You can also bring a picnic to enjoy as the sun goes down.

Dave & Buster’s

Grab some quarters and feel like a kid again when you visit Dave & Buster’s, an adult-themed arcade with a full bar and food menu. You’ll find all the classics here, including skee-ball, pool tables, race car driving simulators, and more. This is especially fun for a first date since it takes some of the pressure off as you laugh and have a great time. The closest location to Fort Lauderdale is in Hollywood, which is about 11 miles away.

Museum of Art

Located on Las Olas Boulevard, the Museum of Art is a great place to enjoy a culture-rich date with your special someone. The exhibits draw inspiration from the highest level of art throughout the years. Through mid-July, the Frank Stella: Experiment and Change exhibit is on display, which spans the artist’s 60-year career since he started in the late 1950s. The exhibit includes more than 300 paintings, sculptures, and drawings, showcasing Stella’s interest in minimalism and maximalism. Some of the pieces have never been showcased before, so this exhibit is especially appealing to fans of his work.

After you walk through the museum, enjoy a bite and drinks at the cafe. The menu includes hot and cold sandwiches, salads, and baked goods, along with wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. Visit on Sunday between 12 and 4 p.m. to sample the brunch menu, which includes quiche, croissants, Belgian waffles, and sandwiches, paired with mimosas.

Take advantage of the great locations and enjoy some time your with your loved one for date night this weekend.
